June 27, 1943: Jane Wyman starred on The Dreft Star Playhouse's 'Bachelor Mother'

  June 27, 1943: Jane Wyman (former wife of Ronald Reagan ) starred in the first broadcast of The Dreft Star Playhouse , titled Bachelor Mother, which debuted on NBC. The Dreft Star Playhouse was a program that featured radio adaptations of popular Hollywood movies during those times. Aired at 11:30 AM on NBC, the program was originally titled The Hollywood Theater of the Air .  Apart from Bachelor Mother, other movies featured included Hold Back the Dawn and Take a Letter, Darling. Terry O'Sullivan and Marvin Miller were the program's announcers.

June 26, 1949: Fred Allen hosted last show on radio, however made many appearances as guest on other radio programs. During the classic era of radio, Fred Allen was one of the most popular radio comedians. Born, John Florence Sullivan, Allen expressed musical talents as well as comedy. He also went on Broadway where he met his wife. A perfectionist, he followed his dream to become a popular radio star, and succeeded by hosting The Linit Bath Club Revenue .
