February 5, 1931: His appearance on Rudy Vallee's The Fleischmann Hour paved the way for Eddie Cantor's long radio career. Eddie Cantor  was an American "illustrated song" performer, comedian, dancer, singer, actor and songwriter. Cantor's performance with Rudy Vallee on Vallee's The Fleischmann's Yeast Hour  caused NBC tried out The Chase and Sanborn for 4 weeks. Later on Cantor took Maurice Chevalier's place at Chase and Sanborn on September 13, 1931.

  February 2, 1946: Twenty Questions   was presented on radio for the first time by The Mutual Broadcasting System, with Bill Slater as the Master of Ceremony. The radio game show   Twenty Questions   became a popular hit and ran for 10 years. For the first couple of years, the show received thousands of letters.

February 1: Happy Birthday, Clark Gable Both before and after his epochal role in 1939's Gone With The Wind, Clark Gable made more than a dozen appearances of popular radio shows including Lux Radio Theatre , Cavalcade of America , and Good News . One of his earliest roles was in a 1936 performance of "The Legionnaire and the Lady" on the Lux Radio Program . This was an adaptation of the film Morocco, and starred, in addition to Gable, Marlene Dietrich . On May 5, 1937, Gable starred with Josephine Hutchinson and Jack LaRue in a Lux production of "A Farewell To Arms." On May 5, 1938, he starred in "Manhattan Melodrama" on Good News . In all, Gable's radio performances allowed him to work with Ginger Rogers , Bob Hope , Lucille Ball , Lana Turner , and Judy Garland . We honor the King of Hollywood for his sterling on-air performances.

January 31, 1936: WXYZ in Detroit, MI broadcast The Green Hornet with its famous theme song The Flight of The Bumble, for the first time on this day. This show was lasting for 16 years.  The Green Hornet   actually came from the same radio station of  The Lone Ranger  . The title character of  The Green Hornet  , Britt Ried, was supposed to be the nephew of The Lone Ranger , John Reid. These famous series were created by George Trendle and Fran Striker. The Flight of the Bumble Bee was originally used as an orchestral interlude for the opera of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov entitled “the Tale of Tsar Saltan.” However, upon the usage of this song in the radio program ""THe Green Hornet"", The Flight of the Bumble Bee was associated more to Britt Reid compared to its original use and purpose.
