January 4, 1935: The Intimate Revue, starring Bob Hope , Jane Froman , James Melton, and the Al Goodman Orchestra was heard for the first time on radio network on this day. The Intimate Revue was the debut show of Bob Hope as the new host. The production was sponsored by Bromo Seltzer. This job was not a new one for Hope. Before his performance on The Intimate Revue , he performed on Vaudeville . He told jokes, sang, and danced on the broadcast. He also performed in Broadways Musical shows in the 1920's. Radio was not a new thing to him, but The Intimate Revue was his first hosting job on network radio series. His performance on The Intimate Revue only lasted for 13 weeks.
