March 4, 1942: "Junior Miss", a production featuring Shirley Temple in a starring role, was heard for the first time on CBS. The show cost $12,000 a week to produce and stayed on the airwaves until 1954.
"Junior Miss" was a radio sitcom sponsored by Procter and Gamble. It was based on Sally Benson's novel of the same name. Starring alongside Shirley Temple, who played the lead character Judy Graves, was Priscilla Lyon. Priscilla portrayed Judy's friend Fuffy Adams. The show was broadcast every Wednesday evening, and lasted until August 26 of the same year.
